Blogging For Better One Way Links

Blogging is a great way to get quality back links. It’s simple, well recognized, and quick. In order to implement a successful blog linking campaign, you must first understand a few blogging rules. Once you understand these rules, it’s just a matter of gathering your content and posting to your blog.

If the content you write in your blog is relevant, informative, and helpful, your chance of getting back links rises considerably.

Four Important Blogging Rules

1. Write your blog posts just like you would any other article. The temptation is to stuff your keywords in your posts and overdo it. Google is looking for quality sites maintained by real people. Blogs have been abused so much in the past that it’s a very important you post your own content that you’ve created. I don’t recommend using free content that’s so widely available or even private label content.

2. You need to offer something of value to anyone who visits your site. Remember that you’re the expert on your topic. Not everyone knows what you know about shoes, landscaping, or whatever else you’re writing about. A good technique is to review other products or websites and offer something of value that can help someone in a pre-purchase decision. I also don’t recommend putting RSS feeds in your posts since this is a common technique that blog spammers have used in the past.

3. You need to make your blog unique. Give somebody visiting for the first time a reason to come back. Make sure you have a way for readers to subscribe to your content. This is usually done with an RSS reader button somewhere on your page. This is also a great place to put an opt in newsletter box where people can sign up and get free articles or free e-books.

4. Whatever you do, don’t neglect your blog. If you keep your blog updated and offer new posts on a semi regular basis, you will increase your back links and visitors to your site. The worst thing you can do is start strong and simply let your blog die out. We’ve all seen the blogs with 4 or 5 consecutive posts on successive days only to have ZERO posts the last few months, or years! This can actually hurt you in the long run. If visitors see that you can’t maintain your own blog, they might assume that you can’t provide a good product or service. So make sure once you start your blog that you continue to maintain it.

Getting Links

Getting back links from a blog is a natural process. You can put links from your blog to your own website. Make sure you don’t put links that only point to your website. Add resources, information, and other directories and sites where people can go to if they come to your website.

The natural progression is that somebody will visit your blog read your article and hopefully click a link to go your website. Or even better, someone will like your post and link to your post or link directly to your website. The benefit to blogs is that your posts will be syndicated to other sites and directories almost immediately. While syndication is a benefit, it also means your content will become stale faster.

Be very careful about what types of information you’re writing about on your blog. If you’re doing a review, don’t use an affiliate link to another site. Using affiliate links is the fastest way to discredit your blog. If you do any linking at all, link directly to the site you’re reviewing or referencing. Don’t lose credibility for the sake of a few extra bucks.

It’s also okay to put a resource box at the end of each post. Just make sure you’re not trying to sell anything or offer “special deals”. People want to know they’re getting high quality information with no strings attached. Let your information speak for itself and if someone is still interested they will naturally follow your link.

Bayesian Filter: Technology And Advantages

Not a long time ago, most anti-spam products simply used a list of keywords to identify spam. A good set of keywords could catch much spam. However, a keyword-based anti-spam filter requires manual updating and can be easily fooled by tweaking the message a little. Spammers simply examine the latest anti-spam techniques and find ways to bypass them. At the result you?re left with a high number of false positives.

The need in a new effective technique to fight against spam stood up. The experience showed that this new method might adapt itself to the spammers’ tactics that would change with time.

The Bayesian filtering is based on the principle that most events are dependent and that the probability of an event occurring in the future can be inferred from the occurrences of this event in the past. This approach is used to identify spam. If some piece of text occurred mostly in spam emails but not in legitimate mail, then it would be reasonable to suppose that this email is probably spam.

To filter mail using the Bayesian technology, you need to generate a database of words collected from spam and legitimate mail. Then a probability value is assigned to each word; the probability is based on the calculations that take into account how often that word occurs in spam as opposed to legitimate mail.

After the legitimate and spam databases are created during an initial training period, the word probabilities can be calculated and the Bayesian filter is ready for use. When a new mail arrives, it is broken into words and the most significant words are singled out. From these words, the Bayesian filter calculates the probability of a new message being spam or not. If the probability is greater than a spam threshold, say 0.9, the message is classified as spam.

Tip! G-Lock SpamCombat allows you assign the hot keys to the common operations. For example, you can assign F8 to Mark Message as SPAM function and F9 to Mark Message as Clean. Next time when you train the Bayesian filter you can simply use two keys on your keyboard F8 and F9.

It is important to note that the analysis of spam and legitimate mail is performed on the mail the particular user (organization, company, etc.) receives, and therefore the Bayesian filter is adjusted to this particular person, company, or organization. For example, a financial institution may receive a lot of emails with the “mortgage” word and would get a lot of false positives if using an outdated anti-spam filter. The Bayesian filter analyzes the entire message with the word “mortgage”, and concludes whether this email is spam or legitimate basing NOT only on a single keyword “mortgage”. The Bayesian approach to filter spam is highly effective - spam detection rates of over 99.7% can be achieved with a very low number of false positives!

Let?s summarize what benefits we get using the Bayesian filter to catch spam:

1) Much more intelligent approach because it examines all aspects of a message, as opposed to keyword checking that classifies a mail as spam on the basis of a single word.

2) Self-adapting - constantly learning from new spam and new valid inbound mails, the Bayesian filter evolves and adapts to new spam techniques.

3) Sensitive to the user ? it learns the email habits of the company and understands that, for example, the emails with the “mortgage” word are not always spam.

4) Multi-lingual and international - being adaptive it can be used for any language. The Bayesian filter also takes into account certain languages deviations or the diverse usage of certain words in different areas, even if the same language is spoken.

5) Difficult to fool, as opposed to a keyword filter - an advanced spammer who wants to trick the Bayesian filter can either use fewer words that usually indicate spam, or more words that generally indicate valid mail (such as a valid contact name, etc). Doing the latter is impossible because the spammer would have to know the email profile of each recipient - and a spammer can never hope to gather this kind of information from every intended recipient.

Well this is a great question, it seems to me that many times people who are the biggest spammers out there don’t even know it! Yes, it is a fact that many people get confused or simply do not understand the difference between, internet marketing and spamming. Not that the 2 are close in technique, but the fact still remains that many people think that they are marketing a product when in reality they are simply spamming all there “would be” customers to death!

So with that in mind, I want to clear the air by telling you that the difference is very small but very important. Not only can you look bad by bothering people with your message, but in most cases you drastically lower the success of your marketing efforts by spamming folks. That’s it. It is nothing more than getting your message to those who want it and only those who want it.

Think of it like this, we all have received an email either from the guy in south Africa asking for your bank account or from the guy who wants us to make part of body larger with his pills, if you know what I mean. Now, if my girlfriend got the ones about making your male parts bigger, what good does that do anybody?

She is not going to buy, she can’t even use the product. Now if she had requested information and after reading about it, decided it was not for her, she still may tell a friend who it could help. But by the message being spam, it gets deleted and never thought about again.

So you can see how important it is to get your messages to those who want it. Not only in email, but on forums, blogs, social networks or any where else. This is a basic but powerful rule. Get your message to those who want it, You will get results!

What is all the buzz about this thing called Twitter? It turns out that Twitter has gained considerable notoriety from such news media sources as NPR, Fox News, The Today Show and even Good Morning America. Twitter is where you can send a 140 character message to the world. The goal is to get as many people as you can to “follow” you. I guess you could call it a popularity contest more or less. Obviously, the more people you have following you on Twitter, the more exposure you’ll have- which is a great thing if you’re a business owner or have a web site that you’re trying to drive traffic towards.

Twitter perhaps came into the spotlight back in 2008 during the presidential election. Everyone was all a tweet about what messages the presidential candidates had to say to the world. Sometimes, you have to doubt the validity of some of the Twitter users, however. There are always the spammers that you have to look out for. Spammers on Twitter typically come in the form of someone trying to, exclusively, promote their site and nothing else. Meanwhile, the point of Twitter isn’t just to promote yourself (although that is certainly a side note); the point is to engage in conversations with other Twitter users.

There are all sorts of Twitter applications floating around out there on the web to be used in conjunction with Twitter in an effort to make Twitter more enjoyable for everyone. For instance, one of the more popular Twitter applications (and it should be noted that not all Twitter applications are promoted or affiliated with Twitter) is an application called TwitterFeed.com in which users can submit their blog RSS feed and have it automatically show up in their Twitter profiles. This is a really neat feature because it saves the Twitter user from having to manually type in their information into Twitter each time. It is also helpful in the event that you are unable to log into Twitter for whatever reason.

Another neat thing about Twitter is that you can take it with you wherever you go. Many of you will recall the incident not that long ago where one Twitter user was arrested in a foreign country and used his phone to send out a Twitter message. Because he had a big enough following on Twitter, word quickly got out to U.S. authorities about his situation, and it is said that Twitter supposedly aided in his speedy release from a foreign prison. Talk about dramatic!

You can also upload pictures to Twitter via TwitPhotos. It seems the possibilities are endless. Whether you want to let the world know that you are upset with your job or just taking a quick bathroom break, you’ve got 140 characters in which to get the message out there to the masses. Similar to Twitter is another site called Blip.fm in which subscribed users can share their favorite songs with other users and post them to their Twitter profiles as well. You could say that it’s like Twitter for music.
