What Is Branding And How Does It Apply When Creating An Internet Home Business?

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

First of all, let me say that I personally feel that it is one of the most critical things we can do as we move toward success in this online home business. It’s all about you! It’s all about me!

It is not about the Program(s) or the Product(s) that we are trying to promote. It?s about the reputation we are trying to build for ourselves and our online home business. Grant it, we must settle upon a support mechanism to maximize our productivity, but you and I are solely responsible for our own success or failure.

When we advertise and promote XYZ Program, whose name is behind that ad? It’s not the Sponsors. It’s yours and mine, or at least it should be. That’s what people remember. I still have lots of bad memories of lots of Internet marketers; and, I still have these same Internet marketers sending me e-mails on their latest and greatest programs, new launches, etc.

I was with some of these people for 6 months. I occasionally respond back to them and tell them why and how they have lost all credibility with me. I don’t drive them to my Spam folder. I like the constant reminder that there are tons of Internet Marketers out there that just don’t get it. And, they provide me with fodder in the things I write.

If I can steer someone away from making the same mistakes I made, then steer them to a real business opportunity, who am I branding. I’m branding Me, just like you are really branding You when you do the same thing. In a way, you are putting yourself above the Program sponsors out there. The point is… it’s your reputation that?s on the line.

If you are into Social Networking, and you should be, this is a great way to develop a positive reputation in Internet marketing. Social Networking is not about selling. It?s about building your reputation. Whether it?s Facebook, Digg, MySpace, Twitter or the myriad of Social Networking sites out there, they provide an excellent tool to get your name and face out to a lot of people.

I?ll use Twitter as an example. I am constantly bombarded with ?tweets? with links and recommendations to ?buy something.? These people are missing the point. They do tend to be persistent. They consistently ?tick-me-off.? On the other hand, if they were providing me value, I would be more apt to visit their website.

If you want to make money with a Twitter-type site, there is brand new site called Sokule. Sokule allows you to monetize your site, so when you send the equivalent ?squeeks? you can potentially earn money. Plus, Sokule, or as they claim ?So Cool,? is more of a business networking site, so you aren?t as like likely to spoil your good name as you are using Twitter to blast out your next business opportunity.

If you want to build a positive brand, try using the Social Networks to pass value to other Internet marketers. There are a ton of free sites and programs that Internet marketers need that are readily available out there.

When you come across these free goodies, copy and paste the URL into a separate file or folder, and share them via the Social Networking sites that you use. Then, in four to six months, do it again. Building a positive brand for yourself and your Internet marketing business, will result in huge rewards for you in the future.

Article Marketing: Fetching Your Possible Clients Through Search Engine Optimization

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

If you are trying to start an online business, the first thing you have to do is to create your own web site or at least a blog. There you can post pictures and other information about the products or services you are trying to offer customers. Of course, the next thing you have to do is to generate traffic to your site or blog so that you can attract potential customers. This is possible through article marketing.

Long before the advent of Search Engine Optimization Service or SEO, article marketing is already a popular means of ?free advertising? in print media. Often referred to as ?Press Release?, these articles (filled with useful content and information) are provided for free by business owners to publishers of newspapers, magazine and other forms of print media. It really works both ways ? publishers get free content and business owners get free advertising.

Some online business owners, however, don?t have the time to write their own article so they seek article writers or freelancers to do it for them. This is where SEO comes to the fore. Written articles will then be posted to the business owner?s site. Using niche keywords for search engines like Google and MSN, the merchant?s site will have significant number of online traffic. SEO articles actually have some sort of double-blade effect because Home Business owners can market their products to potential buyers (or those people who are really interested) on top of attracting a number of visitors to their site.

With the influx of article directories and social networking sites like Tweeter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, article marketing has gained so much popularity that even blog posts are utilized. Companies and other business owners sponsor a blog site wherein writers are ?paid to blog? product-related posts. In some cases, these writers are paid to join online forums and start a new thread regarding specific topics (which are mostly related to certain products or services). While there are some individuals who create keyword-rich articles not to promote but to attract ?peers? to visit their online profile.

And since more and more people are publishing their work online? including those who belong to social networking sites who have no relevant experience in writing ? the quality of online write-ups has been gravely affected. Below-par articles can do wonders only for a period of time, as search engines are constantly updating their search patterns. Relevant and high quality write-ups are still the way to go if you want to achieve long-term success in your e-Marketing campaign.

Another issue that revolves around online article writing is the reprint of articles. Some articles that are written for SEO purposes find their way to article directory sites that redistribute the contents to different online publishers for free. This is one of the reasons why you can see quite a significant number of duplicate content all over the net. Because of this inevitable circumstance, some business owners contact writers directly or through freelancing sites so that they can get unique and exclusive content.

Despite of minor setbacks, article marketing is here to stay. After all, the success rate is very high ? to think that some SEO articles only cost $1.

Are You Afraid Of Web 2.0 Networking For Your Home Based Business ?

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

It seems that a lot of big companies today (with big marketing budgets) have managed to jump right into social marketing and successfully use sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube in their everyday marketing activities. However, it also seems that small businesses are lagging behind the Social Media Marketing trend, even though it is a very low cost marketing channel that almost any small business can afford (the sites are free to use; all it typically costs is time!).

So why are so many small businesses hesitant about social marketing, or seemingly scared of using social networking sites as part of their regular marketing activities?

It could be as simple as not having the time to take on a new marketing activity, or maybe a lack of familiarity with sites like Facebook and Twitter makes them seem hard to use. It?s also possible they?re concerned about negative comments showing up on social media web sites, or worried about employees using these tools appropriately for business. Whatever the reasons, social media marketing is here to stay, and small businesses are going to have to face their fears if they hope to leverage its value as a marketing tool and stay relevant with their customers today.

If you are one of the millions of small Home Business afraid of jumping in to social marketing, here are five good reasons you should overcome your fears:

1. Your customers already expect it ? More than 86% of consumers recently surveyed by marketing agency Prodo said that they believe companies should incorporate social marketing into their regular marketing activities. Add that to the fact that Facebook now has more than 300 million users, Twitter has experienced quadruple-digit growth this year alone, and more than 50% of online Americans use social networking sites on a daily basis, and you can clearly see where your customers are spending their time. Put simply: you need to be there, too.
2. Social marketing has become mainstream ? Think back a few years to when many small businesses didn?t have web sites yet. They thought ?sure, it would be nice to have a web site, but it?s not really necessary for my business.? Now, of course, most small businesses have at least a basic web presence, and web sites are considered a standard part of doing business. The same is happening today with social marketing, and it won?t be long until it is considered just as standard as having a web site.
3. It doesn?t have to take a lot of time ? When implemented properly, social marketing can be a quick, easy marketing activity that can be seamlessly blended with your regular Online Marketing activities. By integrating your social networking profiles with each other, with your web site, and with your existing marketing initiatives, you can minimize the time spent on social networking while maximizing the return on your investment. It?s no longer an option to just do nothing ? if you need help developing a social networking strategy, find a professional to help you.
4. Your message can reach a vastly larger audience ? By using social marketing, you increase your reach online to potentially thousands (or millions!) of people who may not otherwise have a chance to see your message or know your company. Rather than waiting for visitors to find your web site and discover your business, social marketing allows your message to travel further through the social channels you use, as well as through viral events where people share your information with their own networks of friends and associates.
5. Ignoring social marketing will not make it go away ? Like it or not, social marketing is quickly becoming the way in which smart businesses connect and communicate with their customers and potential customers. It not only improves a small business? web visibility, but can also improve search engine rankings (Google already includes results from social sites, blogs, videos, and other alternative media along with regular web site results), and can help create ?buzz? about a small business as well.

So if you have been apprehensive about adding social networking to your marketing mix, there?s no better time to face your fears and get serious about using this technology to enhance your online presence, reach new prospects, and meet your customers? expectations with social marketing. The longer you wait to jump in, the larger the gap grows between ?outstanding? and ?overlooked?.
