Article Composing Enigmas & Techniques - Five Ways To Never Run Out Of Material To Say In Your Articles

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Do you ever find yourself staring at a blank screen or a blank sheet of paper when you’re supposed to be writing articles for your blog, for your ezine or newsletter and for article submission so you can promote your books, products or services?

How would you like to find ways to tap into a limitless supply of article ideas?

Yes, our imaginations run thin every now and then, and no, it isn’t easy to come up with article ideas sometimes. But, I promise you that there are ways to tap into a limitless supply of article ideas for Online Marketing. No matter what your expertise lies in, you can always generate new and interesting ideas for articles IF you follow these guidelines…

5 Ways to Never Run Out of Article Ideas

1) Get inspiration from magazines covers.

Find a magazine that is as close as you can get to your niche and look at the titles on the magazine cover. Look at the titles that jump out at you and make you say, “That looks like it would be a good article-I want to read that!”

Many times you can bounce an article off of a title you see on a magazine cover. Can you convert that title to apply to something in your specific niche?

Now, notice I’m saying, “find a magazine that is somewhat in your niche.” Many of us have websites that are in niches that do not have their own magazines. For example, there is no magazine that I know of about Article publishing.

But I sashay a short distance from my specific niche and look in related niches, such as Writing, Creativity, Productivity, and possibly even SEO. These are all issues that lie at the heart of article marketing, so they work as inspiration launching pads.

2) Don’t forget about the newbies.

When we’re writing on our area of expertise, sometimes we can overlook the obvious. We want to write helpful, educational articles, and our minds quite often go to topics that are more advanced.

Have you ever considered that someone reading your article might not even understand the basics of what you’re talking about?

I have to remind myself of this all the time-not everyone knows what article marketing is, and not everyone even knows the reasons why it’s a popular Online Marketing tool.

Could the same thing be true in your niche?

Think about it-although our articles are not sales oriented or promotional in any way, when we educate our readers on some aspect of our niche, we are increasing the likelihood that they will one day be our customers.

So, don’t forget about the newbies who are in your target market but aren’t knowledgeable about what you do. Try to think back to questions you had when you were first starting out. Think about what confused you. Think about the very basic things that you wish someone had explained to you before you became the expert.

3) Think about: “What are the 10 questions that my customers (or potential customers) most frequently ask me?”

Write those questions down and address each one of them in a separate article.

By completing this writing exercise, you’re letting your target market tell you what to write about. This makes perfect sense since you’re trying to appeal to them anyway.

4) Use template titles and fill in the blanks.

Here are some of mine:

* 10 Great Reasons Why ____
* How To ____ in 7 Easy Steps
* 3 Secret Tricks For _____
* How To Conquer ______
* The Top 10 Mistakes People Make When ____
* Reader Question: “[insert question here]“

You may notice that these titles are all List articles (any article that has a 1,2,3 etc list in it), How-To articles, and Question articles (articles that answer a question that is stated in the title).

These are my go-to article topic stimulators. Just seeing the format for the title gets the wheels of my brain moving (which helps creativity!)

Try filling in the blanks for the template titles listed above, and I bet you can come up with a compelling title to base a new article on.

Five Ways To Boost Your Marketing Power

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Building an online business is not easy, especially
when you are on a very limited budget. As I come
in contact with more people, I realize that numerous
publishers and netpreneurs are overlooking some very
effective free advertising opportunities.

Examples of these opportunities are:

1. Welcome letter for your subscribers - I subscribe to
tons of groups and ezines and am always disappointed
when I get the default welcome letter. Personalize it
by introducing yourself and letting the subscriber know
about your website/business. This is a crucial moment
in that you can start bonding/connecting with the reader
before they even get your ezine.

*Inform them of any specials you might have.
*Tell them your advertising rates and add a testimonial.
*Invite them to your site to utilize the free resources.
*Let them know your email so they can contact you.
*Use some of the space for ad swapping with other
publishers and their welcome letters.
*Add an affiliate product or program review.

2. Goodbye letter for your subscribers - This is your
last chance to get this person back. Make it a good
one! ;-)

Thank them for being a subscriber and encourage them
to re-sub. I also have a little message in my goodbye
letter that encourages people to let me know why they
unsubbed.

Example:

Thank you for being a subscriber to the Bulletin.
I am sorry to see you go. If you could take a minute
to let me know why you unsubbed, I would appreciate it.
Please drop a quick note to (put email here)
Thank you.

By doing this you might be able to change their minds
and if not, you could find ways to improve your ezine
for the next subscriber. Remember, always send them
an appreciative thank you note as well.

3. Email Signature - This simple but powerful method
of promotion is unknown to some. By using an effective
email signature, every time your email goes out to
someone, you have free advertising. Join several
discussion groups and message boards to utilize your
sigtag to the maximum.

Example of a email signature:

Warm regards,
Jane Doser

FREE Ecourses - Sign-up for one or all!
(Put link here.)
Build Your Business with Us!
(Put subscribe email here.)

You want to keep your signature fairly short - about
6 - 8 lines. Many discussion groups will have a limit
to the number of lines you can have in your sigtag.

4. P.S. - It has been found that a P.S. is very likely
to get read. Using a P.S. can be quite effective.
Make it short and to the point. A P.S. novel will more
than likely be ignored!

Example:

P.S. Need more subscribers? FR~E Report
(put email or link here)

Then you would have your main message on auto-
responder. Do not just send them a sales pitch. Add
some useful information and resources that will
actually help the reader. This will get you more
credibility, which is extremely important if you want
more customers.

5. Thank you page - An excellent way to get more
subscribers is to get together with a group of fellow
publishers and set up a group subscription page.
Every time someone subscribes to one of the group’s
ezine, the thank you page will come up with a message
something like this:

Thank you for subscribing to the Bulletin. Take this
opportunity to check out more quality ezines. Please
check the ones you wish to receive.

You would have each groups member’s ezine listed with
a short description. This is a very powerful method of
gaining subscribers because the person is already in
a subscribing mood and will most likely check most or
all of the other ezines.

The above advertising opportunities are quite simple,
but simple can be most effective!

The Best Way To Boost Your Blogs

Friday, October 30th, 2009

The internet is one of the most powerful sales tools in the history of the world. But it is still just a tool and if you don’t know how to increase traffic to your website, you will quickly find that selling a product or service online isn’t as easy as it seems. For starters, as internet sales increase, the search for customers in every field and industry gets more and more competitive. That is why many business and website owners employ an internet marketing service to help them increase website traffic.

What can an internet marketing service do for you? As you might expect, it is their job to help you market your company to potential customers. To do this they take advantage of a number of proven online advertising methods. In the next few paragraphs we will discuss some of the most popular methods and techniques for increasing website traffic.

1. Articles

Article writing is an affordable and effective way to attract customers and every good online marketing service will employ teams of experienced writers who submit their work to article directories like EZine or GoArticles. Then potential customers search the directory and find the client’s article and a link to his website. Article writing also gives you credibility and establishes you as an expert in the mind of the customer.

2. SEO

One of the first things any quality internet marketing service will do is help you grow your SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. This means that when potential customers perform a web search on your product or service, your website will appear at the top of the page. The way professional marketers immediately boost your SEO is by creating relevant back links that help drive website traffic. Creating quality back links takes time and experience and it is a job best left to professionals.

3. Posts

Most internet marketing services know the importance of blogs, forums and sites like Yahoo! Answers, and they will create interesting, informative posts about your website, which can drive customers to your site.

What should you look for in an internet marketing service?

The most important thing is to make sure that the company will do all or most of the work for you. It is your job to monitor your website, and if you hire them, it is their job to promote it. Therefore, the service should write and submit articles to the top directories, boost your SEO as soon as possible, and create a buzz about your product or service on blogs and forums.

But all of this will not happen overnight and you need to watch out for scams-companies that promise to make you an overnight success on the internet and then charge you huge upfront fees. That is why locating a marketing service that offers a money back guarantee is important. Yes, we know, it seems like everyone and their mother offers a money back guarantee. But make sure you read the fine print and that all of you money will be returned if you are not completely satisfied with their performance.

Article Writing — Your Key To Success

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Have you wasted valuable time and money trying to promote your online business? If you’ve spent hard-earned cash buying ads on ezines or on websites, you may have been disappointed with the results.

There’s a better way to advertise your business or website!

Article writing is for you if you want great benefits that don’t cost anything.

By submitting quality articles you’ll get lots of exposure and publicity — without a financial investment! You’ve probably realized by now that the internet is about information, so content brings visitors to your site. That’s a no-brainer!

Consider the possibilities of regularly writing for the internet.

Your work may be seen by millions. Articles written today can quickly appear on over 100 websites.

Search engines are constantly looking for new content to feed content-hungry readers. Why not yours?

By keeping your work before the public, your website will keep getting new visitors who become buyers. As your words are spread all over the internet, your targeted traffic will increase. That’s how to reach lots of qualified buyers. Previous customers will be motivated to become repeat buyers.

By writing regularly, you can reach affiliates or joint venture partners who can help your sales’ potential.

Your articles can be permanently displayed on the internet.

Your reputation can spread all over the internet and beyond. Think of the reach just one article can have!

Your influence could span the globe!

What you’ve written can show up in the most surprising places.

1. Your words may wind up on on a number of publishers’ home pages.

2. You could get featured in a large ezine with thousands of subscribers.

3. Your work could be published in a book or in magazines.

4. An author may ask to use one or more of your articles in an e-book and you’ll be credited.

5. You may get discovered and earn extra income through speaking engagements.

6. You may be given the opportunity to speak on radio shows.

7. You may even be interviewed for national newspapers.

You may not have to wait long before seeing amazing results.

As you submit your work to ezines and article directories, keep in mind that top-ranking sites are crawled by Google more often than other sites. When these sites publish your writing, you’ll soon see results.

With each article you submit, your reputation will grow. After you’ve submitted twenty or so, you may become a household name — at no charge to you!

An author’s works are often kept permanently on websites, so one keyword-rich article can bring thousands of hits for years to come.

Articles not only build your reputation, but are the best way to raise your search engine ranking.

Reciprocal linking is viewed as less important to Google than one-way linking. If numerous sites point to your website without you linking back, Google rewards you with a higher rank.

You get back links automatically by submitting articles and you don’t even have to bother with link exchanges to increase rankings. You also don’t have to worry about Google’s ever-changing algorithm changes that can dump your website several pages down in one day.

Your published works prove you’re an expert — at least in the eyes of readers who view you as knowledgeable. You also establish credibility and trust. Your words can create your own brand for your website and business.

The written word has clout, so you can clinch your point.
Writing brings personal satisfaction.

There’s a great sense of accomplishment from sharing your expertise with the online community.

Real people are sitting behind computers in their homes or offices reading what you’ve written. Through the right words you can build rapport with them.

You’ll probably get emails from time to time telling how something you wrote helped someone. And that’s satisfying!

So there you have it —

Writing articles can open surprising doors to success!

Slow Down Marketing

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I work in retail as my day job and meet over a hundred people a day. Interesting people, strange people, people I may like to know, people I know I would hate, people that I wished I would never had met, people with problems, people with solutions, people that don’t seem to take the hint that I am paid to be there an help them, that I am finally thinking of becoming a monk.

Wait, did I say that. I know that this is not the correct way to think, but it hits me right away at work. Competition in the retail marketplace has forced many stores to cut costs to the bone so that they can cut prices, which, of course means that they must cut back on labor costs. And this leads to treating customers like cattle, whether you want to or not. Get them in, shake them down for as much money as you can and get them out. And how does the corporate office try to get employees to fake customer service? By using canned phone answering techniques, greeting the customers at the door, and basically creating a frontline of expendable, robotic employees. Why do I bring this up?

Because as a internet marketer, auction seller or retailer, you can take advantage of this. Slow down, keep your business small, and provide true customer service. Your customers will notice the difference. Wait I have to come up with a new word here. “Customer” has become a four letter word to me. Let use patron. Someone who furthers you work, supports you, and comes back to your site.

Take a little test. Which of following can you recognize right away?

- A telemarketer
- An ezine personalized with your name
- Would you like fries with that?
- Spam
- A memorized sales pitch from a salesman
- An autoresponder message
- Please press 1 for yes and 2 for no
- Microsofts help system

I bet when you run into these, you think, ” Do these people think I am stupid? Why do they really believe that I would rather use a system or get rote answers instead of talking to a real human?” Then why turn around and use the online equivalents in your own business.

I am not saying that there is not a use for automation. By all means use an autoresponder for your free courses. Definitely set up a FAQ page if you keep getting the same questions over and over. Automate as much as you can to make your job easier. But there is a limit.

Allow your customers to send your emails and write them back. If they ask a specific question, give them a specific answer. Have you ever walked into a store, looked down every aisle for a specific item, then ask an employee where it was only to get directions when you actually wanted him to lead you to the product. If you give a vague answer to an online customer just to get rid of him, you are doing the same thing.

About personalization gimmicks, I don’t think they are necessary. Just write a newsletter like you are writing to one person. Make it subjective. Sprinkling a person’s name randomly throughout a newsletter will not make them think you wrote it directly to them. Give your subscriber’s some credit. If they have been online for a while, they know that even spam can be personalized if the spammer is good enough.

If you are just online to make cash and don’t care how, by all means use every shotgun sales method available, but if you chose this because you like what you are writing or selling and there is nothing else you would rather do, put a little more effort in. Your customers are buying because they have the same interests you do. Treat them as friends. Look at your retail experiences and compare them to your online marketing methods. If you are alienating your customers, slow down. This is not a box that prints money. There are other humans out there.
