Working Online Is Work
Since I have been a full time webmaster the only thing that I have heard is how lucky I am to be able to work from home. Now there are plenty of benefits of working from home, but it is not nearly as easy as what people think. When you are up three o?clock in the mourning watching the infomercials that come on every night you hear about all these programs and liars come online saying how they make millions without doing any work. Well if you truly want to make money online you must be ready to put in some serious time before you begin making any money. Everyone working online knows traffic and/or hits equals income and to get that traffic you must be better than the billions of websites and blogs around you. Personally I have seen the explosion of people coming online because of the recession and every day there are many new websites and blogs walking into my niche. This competition forces me to stay on top of my website marketing tactics and continuously work on building links and updating content.
Now for those of you who wish to know exactly what it takes to work online imagine spending twelve to twenty hours every day watching the SERPs tweaking the SEO on your web presence whether it be a website, blog, or other and continuously be tracking the promotional activities of all the presences within your niche and while your tracking you must be on the constant lookout for cross promotional partners. I know every website in my niche that is within the top 100 of Google for my most cherished keywords and when they start building valuable links I make sure to do the same usually checking to see who is linking to them and trying to gain the same backlinks from the same presences and more. If you take a week off you will surely drop position and have to double up on marketing to gain your previous position.
Though it is a lot of work when trying to make it online I would personally not give it up for a job which I need to leave home from. I have found great peace when not having to ever set an alarm and being able to sleep five or twenty hours. There are months when I do make a considerable amount plenty to buy whatever I wish, but if you consider the work that it takes to make enough money to support yourself working from home it would be much easier to go and get a four year degree. Truly for anyone to make it online they need a burning desire to do whatever it takes and spend as much time as necessary to reach the top of Google and learn the best ways to monetize the traffic they drive to their website. I think the best thing about working online is it builds upon itself. You begin and after about six months of hard work you see a bit of traffic that consistently comes to your website then as you build more you see more. Even though you may go down if you stop building the traffic which you worked hard for still comes and comes without any work. Well this covers the good and bad of working from home perhaps it will enlighten those considering taking on this unique life.
